30 Day Book Challenge: Day 9
Day 09 – A book you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving
I picked up this book because my sister said it was good, and she reminded me that Portia is Ellen DeGeneres’ wife, and, I mean, who doesn’t love Ellen? I was hesitant to pick it up – I don’t read memoirs and autobiographies very often – but it was the next book in my “reading pile”, which was set up on the edge of my nightstand, right after Go Ask Alice, which I still haven’t decided if I like or not. Anyway, I began reading Unbearable Lightness, and finished it in a 24-hour time span. It was intriguing and revealing, and I couldn’t put it down. I definitely recommend it.

I recommended this to a friend of mine for her A-Z challenge (she needed a “U”) and we both agree that it was one that impacted us more than we had expected. Her brutal honesty and way of making the reader understand her struggles was outstanding. Although I can’t relate, I feel that I understand the disorder much better than the books that take a clinical approach.
